JFY Inverter Repair

JFY Inverter Repair

Do you have a JFY inverter?

JFY inverters are classified into three categories, namely the on-grid, off-grid, and pumping inverter. An on-grid inverter is typically connected to the public electricity grid, while an off-grid inverter requires a battery bank to function efficiently. On the other hand, a pumping inverter converts the direct current (DC) of the solar panel into alternating current (AC).

You can check for the model of your JFY solar inverter by referring to the list below:

On-Grid Inverters

    • Sunleaf Series 1.1K-6KTL
    • Sunseed Series 3K-8KTL
    • Suntree Series
    • JSI: Single-Phase String Inverter
    • Suntwins: Single-Phase Dual MPPT String Inverter
    • Sunforest: Three-Phase Central Inverter

Off-Grid Inverters

    • ICXEED: Single-Phase High-Frequency 1K-5K
    • XPI: Single-Phase Low-Frequency 0.5K-7K
    • ESS: Single-Phase Low-Frequency 10K-20K
    • ETS: 10K-60K
    • IPS: 80K-160K

Pumping Inverters

    • 380V Three-Phase 26kW-75kW
    • 380V Three-Phase 3kW-22kW
    • 220V Three-Phase 550W-22kW
    • 220V Single-Phase 550W-22kW

Signs That Your Solar Inverter Needs Repair

Two of the most common signs that indicate a problem with your solar inverter and that it needs repair include a fault light, as well as an error code. There are even instances wherein your inverter shows no lights at all, or it just suddenly stops working. It is in this instance where we can be of help. At Service Tech, our team of expert solar electricians will be able to check your solar inverter, have it repaired or replaced immediately.

What to Do if You See a Red Alarm Light

You may notice that the red alarm light of your inverter is on while its screen is blank. This means that the inverter fails to produce any power and it needs to be checked by a seasoned electrician. However, there is also the option for you to try a solar power system reboot.

To perform the shutdown procedure properly, make sure that you power down the solar supply main switch or the inverter AC isolator if you have this installed. From there, you need to turn off the PV array DC isolator which you will find in the inverter.

After about a minute, turn the solar supply main switch back on or the inverter AC isolator. You also have to power up the PV array DC isolator in the inverter after. You may need to wait for a few minutes for your inverter to restart. After this, check whether the red alarm light is no longer on and your screen is no longer blank.

How to Resolve a Fault Error Message

The fault messages you may see on a JFY inverter front panel display include system fault and inverter fault error codes.

System Fault Error Codes:

    • W01 – Grid connection issue
    • W02 – Vin over-voltage
    • E01 – Isolation error
    • E02 – Leakage current too high
    • E03 – Grid fault

With a system fault, you may see error codes W01, W02, E01, E02, or E03 on the display. You may also see an auto test failed message. These error codes may indicate that there is no grid, a PV panel voltage, or a leakage current that is too high, an insulation problem of the PV panel, or a grid or voltage frequency that is out of range.

Inverter Fault Error Codes:

    • E04 –  Coherence error
    • E05 –  Over temperature
    • E06  – Relay failure
    • E07  – Output current DC offset too high
    • E08 – EEPROM failure
    • E09 – Communication failure
    • E10 – DC bus over-voltage
    • E11 – DC bus under-voltage
    • E12 – Vref error
    • E13 – DC sensor fault
    • E14 – Damaged GFCI device

Under an inverter fault, you may see error codes from E04 to E14. These codes indicate a consistent fault, an abnormal internal temperature, an output relay fault, as well as an output current DC that is too high. Conversely, these codes can also mean an EEPROM or communication fault, as well as a DC bus over or under voltage. It can also be that your inverter is encountering a reference voltage or a DC sensor fault or worse, the GFCI device is damaged.

If any of the problems above persist, better gather some information about your inverter’s installation date, model number, as well as its serial number before you get in touch with a serviceman. If your inverter was installed within the last five years, then there is a great chance that it is still covered under warranty. Otherwise, perhaps it will be better to have it replaced with a new inverter that is covered with a full warranty.

Need further help? Call us!

JFY inverters are indeed quite complicated, which is why you must have them checked by CEC accredited electricians. To ensure that your inverter is repaired rapidly and accurately at a reasonable cost, our trained technicians at Service Tech will visit your property to inspect and assess your inverters. From there, we will source out parts that need to be replaced and repair other components that can still be salvaged. Rest assured that we will put your inverter in a number of performance and safety tests before we return it to your home. Otherwise, we can also make a recommendation for a new solar inverter if this proves to be a more cost-effective solution.
